First Grade is designed for children who turn 6 on or before September 1 of the current school year. First Graders are presented with opportunities to deepen their understanding of God’s word as it relates to their world and deepen their understanding of Christian character. They become more fluent readers and practice writing with proper sentence structure and grammar. Math concepts include adding and subtracting with 20 as well as creating and interpreting graphs. Science and art activities include research and historical references all while learning what God’s word says about the world He created. Teachers keep students engaged with hands-on learning projects that involve both individual study and group collaboration.
